Old Forde House – March 15, 2025

Another incredible night of ghost hunting at the stunning Old Forde House in Newton Abbot! Our group was a wonderful mix of experienced investigators and first-time ghost hunters, all eager to call out, explore, and embrace the night’s paranormal activity.

Throughout the evening, we experienced noticeable temperature fluctuations, unexplained footsteps behind us, and strange sensations—many guests reported feeling cobweb-like touches on their faces, while one guest even described hearing popping noises right next to her ear.

Our Ouija board sessions proved to be particularly eventful. In the Orange room, we made contact with a gentleman I had spoken to in the past, who revealed he was searching for his wife and three daughters. Meanwhile, down in the cellar, we encountered a much darker presence. After some coaxing, the spirit admitted to wanting to cause harm but refused to share his name or further details. However, before we even began the session, this entity had already interacted with our equipment, flashing Gary the teddy bear and setting off one of our flashing cat balls multiple times.

One of the most emotional encounters of the night took place in the Long Room, which we used as our base. As a group, we turned off the lights and called out together, quickly connecting with a spirit who had already spoken to some guests earlier in the evening. Initially hesitant to share her story, she eventually revealed a tragic past. She had been chosen by the lady of the house to act as a surrogate, as the mistress was barren. However, she and the master of the house fell in love, and she became pregnant. When the mistress discovered this, she pushed the young woman down the stairs, killing both her and her unborn child. Later, the mistress went on to poison her husband, though his death was publicly deemed an accident after he fell from a horse.

This young woman’s spirit remained at Old Forde House, unable to move on. She longed to find the master, the man she loved, but hesitated to leave, fearing that her children wouldn’t follow her. Though we encouraged her to move toward the light, she ultimately chose to stay. Her story unfolded through one main investigator asking questions, with others contributing, while responses came through dowsing rods and a Maglite, which she used to indicate answers by turning it on brightly. The atmosphere was deeply emotional, and I believe this encounter will stay with everyone involved for a long time.

Another unexplained event occurred upstairs when a roped-off section of the house began moving on its own. We observed the rope for what must have been over five minutes, watching as it shifted in different directions—something that was difficult to explain. When it finally stopped, we attempted to recreate the movement. While the rope was heavy and naturally swayed for a while after being disturbed, it had slowed down much quicker in our test than during the original occurrence. One guest and I stayed behind to observe it further, and at one point, the rope appeared to be jumping. As we moved closer, it looked as though something invisible was pinching and pulling it in specific places—a truly bizarre and unexplainable sight.

A massive thank you to all our amazing guests for making this such a memorable night in an extraordinary location. We look forward to seeing you all at another investigation soon xxx
